Avery Hardoll Shell Pump

A recent client commission to restore their grandfathers petrol pump, used long after its days filling cars at the roadside as the fuel source on the family farm.
Possibly the dirtiest pump we have come across although the decades of diesel and dust build up had preserved it quite well.
At first it came to us for a repair and light restoration to keep its patina however this advanced to a full outer restoration back to its original paint scheme but retaining the inside complete and original. After thorough cleaning this was sprayed with satin lacquer to seal it, rewired and some small jobs completed such as the altered vent pipe re-connected correctly, a missing belt sourced and broken pre-set dial replaced. Outside the damaged panels were blasted, repaired and re-sprayed in correct 1950s Shell colours, matched to the original codes. The decals were matched to the original last working ones on the panels and replicated.
A rewarding project keeping the pump original at heart, just how its always been but with a fresh and preserved look to last for many years to come.
